Kintsugi • Lunch & Learn Feb 15

HeART Gallery will host a Kintsugi-inspired exhibit of hand-made paper works, sculptures, paintings, clothing, and ceramic pieces all created with the idea and practice of kintsugi in relation to everyday life.  As gold is used to repair broken ceramics in kintsugi, highlighting the break rather than erasing it, the exhibit invites guests to see a correlation between our role in the environment,  our relationships with others and our reaction to personal trauma or loss. Guests will be asked to view these “breaks” through a “Kintsigi lens”, as part of the healing process and/or need for change.

Sheila Otto, author and storyteller, will be our Lunch & Learn presenter. Sheila blends her interests in storytelling and crafting with her spiritual direction and counseling experience. Sheila is the author of a photo/story book, All Stories Are True, Some Actually Happened (Amazon). Guests can make a heart shaped kintsugi inspired project in honor of Valentines Day as part of the program. The principals of Kintsugi have much to teach us. This will be an inspiring lunch!

Reservations can be made to kate@stpaulstoledo.org. HeART Gallery is located in St Paul's Lutheran Church • 428 North Erie in downtown Toledo. There is free parking in the KWIK lot adjacent to the building, which is handicap accessible.
